Rights Respecting Group

The role of the Rights Respecting group is to lead Rights Respecting work throughout the school. Our aims are to ensure that the whole school is aware of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the impact it has had over the last 30 years and empower children and young people to realise their own rights, and to speak out in support of the rights of all children. Over the course of the year we plan to celebrate World Children’s Day in November and choose different rights we can focus on to raise awareness about, recognize and celebrate within the school.

Go Blue Day

The Rights Respecting group successfully planned, organized and led a Go Blue Day on November 20th to celebrate the anniversary of the UN Convention for the Rights of the Child and to raise awareness for children’s rights around the world. Everyone was encouraged to come to school wearing blue. The event was a great success. Future plans for the group include choosing a rights to be focussed on in school, raising awareness of those rights and looking for and recognizing those pupils that are showing respect for those right on a regular basis.
